First Day Back!

Yeaaaaa! Today, Monday November 23, was my first day back to school. It was good to see everyone! I am looking forward to getting back into clay and back on the wheel! It will be great to get instruction from Rob this semester, he is a great guy.

Over the summer, Wade and I went to Chicago for a weekend. We had a really great time. We ate some yummy food at the taste of Chicago, let me tell you they have some really good food in Chicago!

We went to the Chicago Art Institute and got to see some awesome work. I especially love the work of Gerhard Richter! They had four really large, beautiful Richter pieces. They move me!

We took a cooking class together one evening, and got to see the 4th of July fireworks from the river front another evening.

Starting Again! Fall 2010

Hey Friends! Obviously I had stopped blogging, but I am back again. Summer has been great. Got to spend time with family and friends. Watched some kidos learn to swim and enjoy the pool. It was a joy to see two dear friends, Geoff and Breanna, marry each other! It was beautiful! We traveled to see my brother's son, Steven, marry his beautiful bride in North Carolina. My beautiful sister, Cindy, and her children came for a summer visit, and my brother Mike, and his wife surprised us also with a welcomed visit, which spurred a family reunion with loved ones we haven't seen in too long.

Summer has been very hot! and busy. I was happy to PAINT several abstract paintings this summer. People don't seem to respond to abstract work as they do realism. But, I really enjoyed the time I had painting these works. I experimented with application, color composition and texture. I worked with layering and removal. I feel excited of the direction I am moving, and look forward to where it will lead me.

The huge project I am working on now is The GALLERY at SPRINGHOUSE Worship and Arts Center, 2010 Fine Art Awards Reception and Exhibit! We are well under way working on the many details, that will make this a huge and exciting event. A Fine Art Contest, open to the Public of Middle Tennessee, with Sponsored money prizes to encourage the artists in their work. I have some GREAT people working with me. I am really excited about it! Hope to see you all there, FRIDAY EVENING, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., November 19th, 2010. The event will take place at 14119 Old Nashville Hwy, Smyrna, TN 37167.
